Lindsay Woolley became the seventh head coach of Montana Western women's basketball program in 2012. He begins his 11th season as head coach at Montana Western and has a 187-123 (.603) all-time record. He was named the NAIA National Coach of the year in 2019.
He has coached ten players who have become first, second, third or honorable mention All-Americans, two conference players of the years, two Frontier Conference Defensive Players of the year, 25 all-conference selections, 32 Daktronics Scholar-Athletes, 80 academic all-conference selections, three CoSIDA Academic All-District selections and one CoSIDA Academic All-American.
Head Coach - (2012-Present)
During Woolley's tenure with the Bulldogs, he has returned the program to national prominence after a ten year absence from postseason play as his teams have made five-straight NAIA tournament appearances.
2020-21 The Bulldogs went 17-10 in a COVID shortened season. Brynley Fitzgerald led the Frontier in scoring as the Bulldogs advanced to the championship game of the NAIA Opening Round. Paige Holmes was named Frontier Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
2019-20 The Bulldogs advanced to the National Tournament for the fifth straight season before the tournament was canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Paige Holmes was named Frontier Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
In 2018-19 Woolley led the Bulldogs to the programs first NAIA Div I National championship. The title capped off a banner 2018-19 season for the Bulldogs, who finished with a 30-4 record and the Frontier Conference regular season crown. Woolley was named Frontier Conference Coach of the Year for the second time and NAIA National Coach of the Year. Senior Bri King became the program's and the Frontier Conference's first NAIA and WBCA National Player of the Year.
In 2017-18 the 27-9 Bulldogs advanced to the NAIA National Semifinals for the first time in program history. Frontier Conference Player of the Year Bri King led the Bulldogs on the magical run.
The 2016-17 Bulldogs made the first NAIA national tournament appearance in ten seasons, advancing to the second round of the NAIA tournament.
Coaching Career
Miles Community College (2004-2012) Woolley spent the first eight years of his college coaching career at Miles Community College (Miles City, Mont.) coaching men’s and women’s basketball. During his four year run as the head coach of the MCC women’s basketball program, Woolley led his team to an overall record of 87-37 with a runner-up Mon-Dak Conference finish his first year followed by back-to-back Mon-Dak Conference Championships.
Woolley also coached a season of junior varsity basketball for Missoula Big Sky High School.
Playing Career
Woolley played golf and basketball at Montana Tech. Earning all-conference honors in golf.
He was a member of the Missoula Big Sky High school 1997 Class AA state championship team.
Personal
A native of Missoula, Mont., Woolley earned a Bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Montana in 2004 and a Master's degree in human performance and physical education from Adams State University in 2012. He is married to Megan Bundy of Miles City, Mont. and they have a son Avery (7).
