Kendall Athletic Training Clinic
The Dave Kendall Athletic Training Clinic located in the heart of the Bulldog Athletic and Recreation Center (BARC) is a state of the art health care facility that assists our staff of three licensed health care providers to provide high quality athletic healthcare. The facility houses a hydrotherapy center, taping stations, patient exam room, therapeutic rehabilitation area, and high end electrical modalities.
The facility is named in honor of Dave Kendall who was the first athletic trainer at Western and served our student-athletes for over 30 years. Kendall was honored by his peers as he was inducted into both the Montana Athletic Trainers' Association Hall of Fame and the Northwest Athletic Trainers' Association Hall of Fame. He developed the Bulldog athletic training program into one of the most respected small college internship programs in the nation.

Zach McCarthy -Â Athletic Trainer
Zach McCarthy has been a member of the University of Montana Western Athletic Training staff since the fall of 2017. McCarthy provides coverage for football and is the primary athletic trainer for the women's basketball and Cross Country programs. McCarthy was a key member of the 2017-2018 Women's Basketball Fab Four team and 2018-19 National Championship Team.Â
Before joining the UMW athletic training staff he served as an athletic training student for the University of Montana's athletic training program providing medical coverage for the football, women's basketball, softball, and track & field teams. He spent additional time providing medical care to various teams in Missoula including the Missoula Jr. Bruins and the Hellgate Knights.
McCarthy earned his B.S. in Health and Human Performance and his Master of Science in Athletic Training both from the University of Montana in 2017. While at UM McCarthy was a student athletic trainer for the UM Griz softball team to win the 1st Big Sky conference trophy in school history.
He has training in M1 Graston Techniques, Kinesio Taping, and Cupping Therapy techniques. McCarthy is has his First Aid/CPR certification, and he is currently working to obtain his Strength and Conditioning certification.
A native of Meridian, Idaho, McCarthy enjoys golfing, fly fishing, and snowboarding.

Nate Schieffert -Â Athletic Trainer
Nate comes to UMW from Madison, S.D. where he served as part of the athletic training team for the Dakota State University Trojans. While at Dakota State, Nate provided primary patient care for the sports of football, men's basketball and track and field.
Nate is a graduate of the renowned University of Montana graduate program in Athletic Training. Since his graduation, he has earned advanced skills and certifications in the therapeutic applications of Blood Flow Restriction, PRRT, and is a Corrective Exercise Specialist. Schieffert is originally from Miles City, Mont. and played intercollegiate football for Dickinson State University.
Nate is an avid outdoorsman and loves all water sports. He is drawn to UMW and Dillon because of the recreational appeal of the area and the reputation of UMW and SCL Health for excellence in athletic healthcare.

Savannah Sexton - Athletic Trainer
Savannah comes to UMW from Wingate, North Carolina where she served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Wingate University. While at Wingate, Savannah provided primary patient care for football and men's/women's golf.
Savannah is a graduate of George Fox University athletic training program where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training while also competing in soccer. She also received her Master of Arts in Sport Management with an emphasis in athletic administration. Savannah is originally from Lake Forest, Calif. and she enjoys hiking with her dog Finn. She also enjoys many other outdoor hobbies, which was one of the reasons she chose to move to Dillon, Mont.Â
