The University of Montana Western Bulldogs improved to 5-0 on the early season following their win over non-conference foe College of Idaho. Strong performances from forwards
Kaye Bignell (Helena, Mont.) and
Cierra Lamey (Wise River, Mont.) guided the Bulldogs to a 21 point win over the 'Yotes.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 31-13 lead in the first quarter and were able to comfortably maintain the lead all the way to the final buzzer. Western shot a season high 55.9 percent from the field and made 15 of 20 free-throw attempts.
Kaye Bignell (Helena, Mont.) had a career day on 11-13 shooting and a perfect 7 for 7 from the charity stripe, totaling 29 points along with 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Montana State University-Billings transfer
Cierra Lamey filled up the stat sheet with 15 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.
Aniese Palmore (Santa Monica, Cali.) added 11 points and team high nine assists.
It was evident that the Bulldogs had taken their previous four games seriously, and worked on fixing what needed to be fixed before coming out and taking on a quality opponent in College of Idaho. This weekend the Lady Bulldogs hit the road and travel south to Phoenix, Arizona where they will participate in the ACU Classic I. The Bulldogs are set to face off against Embry-Riddle on Nov. 11 at 6:00pm and Arizona Christian on Nov. 12 at 5:30pm.Â
