Bulldog Football Hosts College of Idaho

The University of Montana Western Bulldogs host the College of Idaho 'Yotes in the last home game of the season at Vigilante Field on Saturday Nov. 3. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m.

The Bulldogs So Far

The Bulldogs were picked to finish seventh in the conference in the preseason. The Bulldogs have exceeded expectations boasting a 6-2 record and are tied for first place with two games remaining.

What to Watch For
  • The Bulldogs look to keep pace with Rocky Mountain College atop the Frontier Conference.
  • Before the game the Bulldogs will honor 19 senior student-athletes, who will be graduating this year.
  • Watch for the Bulldog defense to keep tabs on Darius James-Peterson and the C of I offense. The Bulldogs defense is 24th in the nation in rushing defense per game, allowing 129 yards a contest.
  • Watch for the Bulldogs to put points on the board, They are second in the conference averaging 32 points a game.
  • Fourth quarter magic. The Bulldogs have outscored opponent 121-13 in the fourth quarter this season.
  • The Bulldogs have scored six defensive touchdowns this year, and have five pick-6's. The Bulldogs only had five defensive scores the past two years combined.
  • Junior linebacker and All-American candidate Jason Ferris leads the conference with 101 total tackles and is third in the nation with 12.6 tackles per game. He is also fifth in the nation with 1.9 passes defended per game.
  • Freshman quarterback Jon Jund is 15th in the nation in passing yards per game with 247.
  • The 'Yotes haven't won a game in Dillon, going 0-5 dating back to 1976.
Scouting the 'Yotes
  • The College of Idaho is the hottest team in the NAIA. The 'Yotes have won four straight games, three of which have been ranked in the top 25.
  • The 'Yotes received votes in the latest coaches' poll for the first time since the preseason poll.
  • C of I quarterback Darius James-Peterson has been on a tear lately. He has been averaging nearly 300 yards passing the last three games, has rushed for over 200 yards and has 13 total touchdowns.
  • 'Yotes place kicker Kyle Mitchell has won back-to-back Frontier Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
  • The Bulldog offense will want to avoid safety Jayden Dawson. He leads the team in total tackles and last week he had a tackle for loss, sack, and interception.
