Dillon, Mont. - The University of Montana Western Bulldogs (2-0) used a suffocating defense to roll to a 50 point victory over the Warriors of Corban University (3-1) 88-38.
The Bulldogs defense started strong, holding the Warriors to just one made field-goal and three points in the first quarter. After the tone was set in the opening ten minutes the Bulldogs continued the defensive pressure forcing 23 Corban turnovers.
Brianna King lead they way with four steals.
The offense fed off the defensive success and opened up a 17 point halftime lead. The offense exploded in the second half scoring 55 points, and cruising to the big win.
The Bulldogs had four players score in double-figures and connected on 15 three-pointers, and shot just a hair under 52 percent from the floor for the game. King led all scorers with 24 points on 7-13 shooting and 5-7 from downtown.
Cierra Lamey scored 21 points and added five rebounds.
Savanna Bignell added 13 points and
Shannon Worster went 5-6 from the floor for 12 points.
The Bulldogs return to action on Nov. 10 when they host The College of Idaho (0-1) in the Straugh Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
