Bulldogs Head North to Close Out Season

No. 4 Women's basketball looks to lock up conference title on the road

The fourth-ranked University of Montana Western Bulldogs women's basketball team will close out the 2018-19 regular season this weekend looking to clinch the Frontier Conference regular season title when they travel north to face No. 23 University of Providence and MSU-Northern. 

The Bulldogs So Far
  • The Bulldogs are 22-3 overall and 13-3 in Frontier Conference play. 
  • The Bulldogs are ranked fourth in the nation.  
  • The Bulldogs split two games last weekend, defeating Montana Tech 89-68 to sweep the season series. UMW fell to No. 17 LC State 68-63, the Bulldogs took the season series 2-1. 
  • The Bulldogs hold a one game lead in the conference with two to play. Should the Bulldogs tie for first in the final standings they hold the tie-breaker over second place Carroll College. 
  • One win on the weekend and the Bulldogs clinch the top seed in the Frontier Conference Tournament and their first conference championship since 2004. 
  • The Bulldogs are holding opponents to 51.1 points a game. 
  • Brianna King is fourth in the nation in scoring, averaging 22.4 points a game.

  • Brianna King is leading the conference with 22.4 points a game, and steals (69). She also leads the team in assists with 80. 
  • King has scored 20 or more points in 17 of the 25 games this season. 
  • King has scored 30 or more points three-times this season. 
  • Britt Cooper is 9 points away from 1000 career points. 
  • Britt Cooper had a huge weekend last week. She scored 30 total points, 15 rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal. She shot 55 percent from the floor and 80 percent from the charity stripe. 
Scouting the Opponents
  • The No.23 University of Providence Argos are 17-11 overall and 6-10 in Frontier play. 
  • The Argos are sixth in the nation in rebound margin, plus 10.8 a game. 
  • The Argos are lead by Emilee Maldonado's 16.4 points,5.1 assists, and 1.3 steals a game. Parker Esary averages 10.1 rebounds a game and has 16 double-doubles on the season. 
  • The MSU-Northern Skylights are 12-16 overall and 4-12 in the conference.
