Dillon, Mont. – University of Montana Western Head Football Coach
Ryan Nourse announced the signing of 13 student-athletes for the 2019 season.
The Bulldogs added size to the trenches during the early signing period as well as signing two of the most productive football players in Montana, inking record setting running back Colten McPhee from Columbia Falls and defensive back/wide receiver Kameron Rauser from Broadwater County High School (Early Signing Release
HERE). In an effort to continue to improve the running game and play lock-down defense the Bulldogs added speed and size to the backfield and defensive secondary with this class.
"Our staff set very distinct goals to reach in recruiting this class," Nourse said. "Continuing to build size and strength on our line of scrimmage, increase our speed on defense and our athleticism overall were critical elements to our plan and I believe we did that so far."
Matthew Austin QB/ATH 6-1 185 Kuna, Idaho / Kuna HS
Matthew is a three-sport athlete from Kuna High School. As a quarterback, he threw for 1,961 yards and 19 touchdowns, and ran for nine scores during his senior season. Matthew also received Second-Team All-Conference honors and competed in the Shrine All-Star game. He is the son of Mike and Michelle and plans on majoring in health and human performance.
Brant Bremner WR 5-10 170 Browning, Mont. / Browning HS
Brant is a two-time First-Team All-Conference and All-State wide receiver from Browning, Mont. In addition, he was named First-Team All-Conference and All-State at Defensive Back during his senior season. He made the All-Conference Second-Team on defense as a junior. He totaled 1700 receiving yards, 29 touchdowns, and ran for 456 yards. Brant is a member of National Honor Society, and is an Honor Roll student. The four sport athlete is the son of Lockley and Brandy Bremner and plans on majoring in environmental science.
Carson Grigg WR/DE 6-3 185 Glenns Ferry, Idaho / Glenns Ferry HS
Carson is wide receiver from Glenns Ferry, Idaho. He was an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection on the defensive line. The three sport athlete is the son of Chad and Crystal Grigg and plans on majoring in business at Montana Western.
Gus Hanson DB 6-1 150 Helena, Mont. / Capital HS
Gus is a defensive back from Helena, Mont. He recorded 53 tackles, two interceptions, recovered a fumble, and had a sack during his senior season. He was named Second-Team All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-State. The three-sport athlete is a three-time Academic All-State selection and plans on majoring in business administration. He is the son of Ryan and Laurie Hanson.
Garet Jardine QB/DB 6-2 190 Filer, Idaho / Filer HS
Garet is a three-year starting quarterback from Filer, Idaho. He averaged over seven yards per carry and over 24 yards per return. He amassed 153 tackles and five interceptions during the 2018 season. As a three-sport athlete, Garet collected 10 varsity letters, and received All-Conference honors as a defensive back. He is the son of Tony and Marianne Jardine and plans on majoring in health and human performance.
Brady King QB/ATH 6-1 190 Boise, Idaho / Bishop Kelly HS
Brady is a dual threat quarterback from Bishop Kelly High School. He is a three year letter winner in football and a four-time letterman in basketball. Brady intends on studying Business at Montana Western and is the son of Shane and Judy King.
Bryan LaGrange RB 5-11 220 Las Vegas, Nev. / Sierra Vista HS
Bryan is a running back from Sierra Vista High School. He accumulated 1,825 rushing and 234 receiving yards. Bryan was named First-Team All-Conference and Second-Team All-League in 2017. He is the son of Tyra Smith and Erick LaGrange and plans on majoring in business.
Manny Perez DB 6-0 180 Coolidge, Ariz. / Coolidge HS
Manny is a defensive back from Coolidge High School. He recorded 42 solo 55 total tackles and scored two touchdowns. He was named First-Team All-Conference and All-Region. Manny is an Honor Roll student and plans to major in Health and Human Performance. He is the son of Manuel and Maria Perez.
Senituli (Tuli) Punivai ATH 5-10 190 Kaneohe, Hawaii / James B. Castle HS
Tuli is James B. Castle High School's all-time rushing leader. He led the conference in rushing with 1273 yards and 14 scores. He is a threat out of the backfield as well with 530 yards receiving and six scores. He is the son of Tevita and Darrellyn Punivai and plans on majoring in business and Montana Western.
Tyson Racht DB 5-10 170 Broadwater, Mont. / Broadwater HS
Tyson is multi position athlete from Broadwater, Mont. Under center he was 199 of 360 for 2,987 yards and 27 touchdowns. He ran the ball 288 for 1,352 yards and found the end zone 15 times. On the defensive side of the ball, Tyson recorded 153 tackles and had 6 interceptions. He was named Second-Team All-Conference as quarterback and defensive back as a senior and was the team's offensive MVP. In the classroom, is a member of the National Honor Society, an Honor Roll student and was named Academic All-State. He is the son of Brad and Missy Stanton Racht and plans to major in biology.
Christian Reyes OL/DL 6-0 285 Boise, Idaho / Borah HS
Christian is guard/defensive tackle from Boise, Idaho. He was named Second-Team All-State and All-SIC. He is the son of Angelica Reyes and plans on majoring in physical education.
Ethan Running Crane QB/ATH 6-4 195 Browning, Mont. / Browning HS
Ethan is a quarterback from Browning High School. He was 133 of 290 for 1,971 yards. Ethan grabbed the Browning High School record for most passing yards in a season, in addition to being named Honorable Mention All-Conference. As a three sport athlete, he collected seven varsity letters, three in football and twice each in basketball and track. The National Honor Society member and Honor Roll student plans on majoring in psychology. Ethan is the son of Stephen Running Crane and Wendy Bremner.
Wyatt Wickham DL 6-2 275 Spokane Valley, Wash. / Central Valley HS
Wyatt is a defensive-lineman from Central Valley High School. He is a two-time First-Team All-Conference selection and was named All-State as a junior. The three-sport athlete also competed in track and wrestling. He is the son of Merrell and Melissa Wickham and is undecided in a major at Montana Western.
"This most recent group of signees continues to add the component of speed and athleticism we need to be able to compete at the top of the Frontier Conference," said Nourse. "The majority of the class are two way players and multi-sport athletes. Adding depth and competition to an already talented and youthful roster is challenging. Our staff has done, and continues to do, an incredible job of finding the right players to fit our team, University and community and we will have our 2019 roster filled within the next several weeks."
