The No. 4 Montana Western Bulldogs used a strong second quarter to overcome a slow start to beat No. 22 Lewis-Clark State College 71-67 in the conference semifinals Friday night in the Straugh Gymnasium. Trailing the Warriors by five after ten minutes, The Bulldogs hit four-3-pointers to out score LC by 11 in the second quarter to lead by six at the half. The Bulldogs built a 14 point lead midway through the third, only to see the Warriors to shot 8-9 from long range to keep the game close. Brianna King (7-19, 5-13) hit a trey at the third quarter buzzer to give the Bulldogs a five point heading into the final frame. The teams battled in the fourth trading baskets before Britt Cooper's step through layup with 17.2 seconds sealed the win for the Bulldogs.
Individual Leaders
Brianna King had a game-high 20 points. She added six rebounds, five assists, and three steals.Â
Cierra Lamey scored 15 points and went 3-4 form beyond-the-arc. She pulled down four rebounds.Â
Britt Cooper scored nine points, eight rebounds, and two steals.Â
Peyton Souvenir scored 19 points to lead the Warriors.Â
Jossilyn Blackman recorded a 13 point, 10 rebound double-double for LC State.Â
