Billings, Mont. - The fourth-ranked University of Montana Western Bulldog women's basketball team will play The Master's (Calif.) in the quarterfinals of the 39th Annual Division I Women's Basketball National Championship, presented by Visit billings. The No. 1 seed Bulldogs will face No. 2 seed The Master's on Friday, March 16 at 2 p.m.
The Bulldogs (27-4) won their second round game against Lyon 70-58 on Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs will advance to the quarterfinals for the second straight year. The Bulldogs are led by WBCA Player of the Year
Brianna King's 22 points a game. The Bulldogs have the nations sixth best scoring defense, holding opponents to 52 points a game.Â
The Master's (28-6) is making their 14th tournament appearance. The Mustangs advanced to the quarterfinals with a 65-45 win over MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.). The Mustangs are led by GSAC's Player of the Year Stephanie Soares. The 6-6 center averages 16.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, and five blocks a game.Â
The Mustangs have beat the Bulldogs the last three times they have played (2014, 2012, and 2003).
There will be a free watch party on campus in the Mathews movie room located in the Lewis and Clark Lobby of Mathews Hall.
