Billings, Mont. - The fourth-ranked University of Montana Western Bulldog women's basketball team will play Lyon College (Ark.) in the second round of the 39th Annual Division I Women's Basketball National Championship, presented by Visit billings. The No. 1 seed Bulldogs will face No. 5 seed Lyon on Friday, March 15 at 2:15 p.m.
The Bulldogs (26-4) won their first round game against Georgetown 89-69 on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs will advance to the second round for the third straight year. The Bulldogs are led by WBCA Player of the Year
Brianna King's 21.9 points a game. The Bulldogs have the nations sixth best scoring defense, holding opponents to 52 points a game.Â
Lyon College (25-7) is making their eighth tournament appearance. The Scots advanced to the second round with a 77-73 win over Vanguard (Calif.). The Scots are led by Madison Riley's 14.7 points a game. Lyon holds opponents to 57 points a game.
This is the first time the two schools have met.Â
There will be a free watch party on campus in the Mathews movie room located in the Lewis and Clark Lobby of Mathews Hall.
