Meyer's Buzzer Beater Lifts Bulldogs Past Carroll

Bulldogs win 58-56 to claim top spot in Frontier

Score: No. 19 Montana Western 58  –  No. 16 Carroll College 56

Gracey Meyer took a perfect pass from Shannon Worster on a pick-n-roll and banked it off the glass at the buzzer to give the Bulldogs a 58-56 win over Carroll College. The win gave the Bulldogs the series win over the Saints and first place all alone in the Conference. The Bulldogs looked to have the game locked up when Savanna Bignell connected on 3-pointer to give UMW a nine point lead with a 1:52 left in the fourth. The Saints forced three turnovers in the final minute and made clutch shots before tying it up with 4.5 seconds left setting up Meyer's heroics.

  • Paige Holmes scored 16 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. 
  • Savanna Bignell scored 15 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals. 
  • Shannon Worster scored 10 points, five assists and three rebounds.
  • Brynley Fitzgerald scored 10 points, two rebounds and a block. 
  • Sienna Swannack scored 17 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals for Carroll College.

  • Savanna Bignell hit a half court shot at the third quarter buzzer to give the Bulldogs a 41-38 lead heading into the fourth.
  • The Bulldogs committed 22 turnovers and the Saints turned that into 20 points. 
  • The Bulldogs have won the season series over the Saints for the third-straight season.  
  • The win was the Bulldogs fifth in a row over a ranked opponent.
