Four Bulldogs Receive All-Conference Honors

March 11, 2020

WHITEFISH, Mont., Mar. 12, 2020 — Conference commissioner Kent Paulson announced the Frontier Conference 2019-2020 Women's All-Conference Basketball team, as well as individual award winners today after balloting by the league's coaches. Montana Western head Coach Lindsay Woolley was selected as Coach of the Year. Paige Holmes was named defensive player of the year.

Additionally, Savanna Bignell was named second-team all-conference and Gracey Meyer was all-conference honorable mention.

Woolley was named Frontier Conference Coach of the Year for the second straight year and third time in the last four season. Woolley guided the Bulldogs to a second place finish in the Frontier after being picked to finish fifth in the preseason poll. His Bulldogs have qualified for the NAIA National Tournament four straight seasons.

"We are very proud of Lindsay and the job he did this year with our women's basketball team," Director of Athletics Bill Wilson said. "To take as many new players as he had this year and meld them into a team that was as competitive as they were throughout the season, was just remarkable."

Holmes was named the Frontier's top defender as well as earning all-conference honorable mention honors. The 5-6 junior from Seeley Lake, Mont. averaged 9.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.45 assists and 1.5 steals a game, all career-highs. She is 32nd in the nation in assist/turnover ratio (1.85). She was also named the Bulldog's Champion of Character.

Bignell, a 5-6 guard for Avon, Mont., was named second team all-conference. The senior had career-highs in every statistical category, averaging 10.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.7 steals a game.

Meyer, a 5-11 forward from Moscow, Idaho, was named all-conference honorable mention. She shot 44.8 percent from the floor and averaged 9.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.

"Our kids certainly don't crave individual attention but it is nice to see them be rewarded for their accomplishments," head coach Lindsay Woolley said. "I really think these awards speak to the success of our group. They never cared who got the credit, only whether we won or lost. As a coach you love to see that mentality in your teams."
