GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—The Montana Western Bulldogs (6-1) dropped an exhibition game to the Colorado Mesa University Mavericks (5-0)—63 to 75—to finish out their weekend in Colorado.
The Mavericks started off quick with a 12 to zero run in the first quarter. The Bulldogs struggled to put points on the board for the remainder of the first, only scoring seven points compared to Colorado Mesa's 20. Montana Western outscored the Mavericks in the second half, including their own 12-point run in the fourth, but it wasn't enough to hold off the Colorado team.
"Credit to Colorado Mesa,"
Lindsay Woolley said. "They jumped us early and it was too big of a hole to come out of. We couldn't generate offense in the first quarter, and it led to poor shot selection. Once we settled in and executed, I was happy with our resiliency."
