SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.—The Montana Western Bulldogs (10-3, 1-1) finished out the Cactus Classic 3-0 with a win over the Bushnell Beacons (6-1, 2-1), 77-68.
The Bulldogs shot very well—55 percent from the field (26-47) and 50 percent from the 3-point line (13-26). Similarly, the Beacons shot well—45 percent from the field and 36 percent from the arc—but couldn't match the Bulldogs' offense.
The two teams traded points for the first three quarters, with the Beacons leading most of the first half. The Bulldogs caught up to the Beacons in the last two minutes of the second, leading the Beacons 38-36 at the half.
The Bulldogs quickly extended their lead in the third. Their momentum carried throughout the fourth and closed out the game with a nine-point lead.
"It took a whole lot of character from our team to dig out of that hole we dug early," coach Woolley said. "I thought Jenni, Mesa, and Shainy really gave us a spark on the offensive end."
