DILLON, Mont.—The Montana Western Bulldogs (15-13, 5-11) fell to the Orediggers of Montana Tech (13-18, 4-12) in the quarterfinal of the Frontier Conference postseason basketball tournament, 67-76.
It was a close matchup for the first quarter—both teams added 15 points to the board, with six of the Bulldogs' 15 coming from the foul line. Montana Tech grabbed the halftime lead, 33-28, with an 18-point second quarter on 58 percent shooting from the field.
The Bulldogs grabbed the lead twice in the third quarter, but only by two. Montana Western outscored the Orediggers 18-14 in the third, but the Orediggers still led 47-46. Montana Tech went on a 9-3 run for the first four minutes of the fourth. Montana Western struggled to penetrate the Orediggers' defense and couldn't stop their offense on the other end.
