CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Montana Western women's basketball team (2-5) faced the no. 24 ranked University of Jamestown in a rematch from their Dec. 5 meeting in Dillon. The Bulldogs fell in tonight's contest by a final score of 76-54.
How It Happened
In the opening minutes, the Bulldogs showed promise with quick scores from
Kenzi Pedersen and
Trinidie Nichols. However, turnovers and missed three-point attempts allowed Jamestown to capitalize on transition opportunities, helping them to take a 20-10 lead after the first quarter.
Jamestown continued to build on their lead in the second, outscoring Western 19-9 in the quarter helping them to secure a 39-19 advantage by halftime.
The Bulldogs worked to cut into the deficit early the third quarter, benefitting from a pair of points from
Payton Hagy and
Maddy Moy. Jamestown responded with timely three-pointers to push their lead to 19 by the end of the third.
Despite matching the Jimmies closely in the fourth, the Bulldogs could not close the gap as Jamestown's first half edge kept them out enough to top UMW 76-54.
