CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Montana Western women's basketball team (3-6) got out to a hot start in tonight's matchup, but was unable to overcome Stephens College (Mo.) falling by a final score of 73-64.
How It Happened
The Bulldog women were hot from the start, hitting 62.5 percent from the field and going 10-16 shooting as they took a 23-14 lead in the first quarter.
Despite the lead, Stephens quickly jumped back in the game as they rattled off three straight triples to start the second quarter to tie the game at 23.
Payton Hagy answered with a three of her own, but the Stars would go on to hit another three triples in the quarter to claim a 37-33 lead at the half.
After the break, the two teams battled for ground with Western's defense picking up five steals across the third. The Stars went on to maintain a narrow five-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The Bulldogs cut the deficit to single digits in the fourth quarter as
Kenzi Pedersen connected on a jumper in the paint. However, Stephens' composure kept Montana Western at bay as they were able to hang onto the lead to win 73-64.

- Montana Western's defensive pressure forced 29 turnovers in the game, converting them into 31 points.
- Keke Davis led with 15 points, including five steals on defense adding six boards.
- Isabella Lund added 14 points, four rebounds and four steals.
- Hagy chipped in 10 points, connecting on three shots from beyond the arc.
