GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The Montana Western women's basketball team (7-13) dropped their rematch with No. 25 Providence (14-6) this evening 78-66.
Kenzi Pedersen led the Bulldogs in scoring with 14 points.
How It Happened
The Bulldogs came out sharp, shooting 64.7% from the field on 11-of-17 shooting and 4-of-5 from beyond the arc, including three from
Payton Hagy. They also dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Argos 11-4 to take a 26-16 lead at the end of the first quarter.
A 15-5 run by Providence in the second quarter, combined with seven Bulldog turnovers, brought the game to a 33-33 tie. Another three-pointer from Hagy and a free throw from
Keke Davis briefly regained the lead for the Bulldogs, but the Argos evened the score at 37-37 heading into halftime.
The Argos would outscore Western 23-11 as the Bulldogs struggled offensively shooting just 21.4% (3-14) from the field.
Sammi Love came off the bench to score five points but points Providence would score 14 points in the paint to further their lead.
Providence extended its lead to as much as 20 in the fourth quarter, but Western fought back. Sparked by seven points from Pedersen, the Bulldogs went on an 11-2 run and held the Argos scoreless over the final 2:38, cutting the final deficit to 78-66.

- Hagy would finish with 12 points and was 4-5 from beyond the arc.
- Trinidie Nichols pulled down eight rebounds and scored 13 points.
- Davis recorded a double-double scoring 12 points and collecting 10 rebounds.
- The Argos went 2-23 from beyond the arc.
- Providence scored 52 points in the paint.
