Bulldog Women’s Basketball Travels to Twin Rivers PT Classic

DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western women's basketball program (2-0) heads to Lewiston, Idaho this week to take part in the Twin Rivers PT Classic hosted by LC State. The Bulldogs will face off against no. 7 LC State (2-0) and Eastern Oregon (2-0).

 AND THAT'S WHAT YOU MISSED… 
The Bulldogs opened the season with important wins over #15 Southern Oregon (70-55) and (RV) College of Idaho (78-75) last weekend. 
Western came out firing against the Raiders, allowing just eight points in both the first and second quarters. SOU scored the first bucket in the contest and never led again. UMW shot 50.0 percent (27-54) from the floor and 54.5 percent (12-22) from beyond the arc, and 40.0 percent (4-10) from the line. Four Bulldogs scored in double figures, led by Bailee Sayler with a game-best 19. Keke Davis and Kyle Pancost shared the team lead with seven rebounds apiece while Isabella Lund and Maile Wilcox dished out three assists apiece.

After being up by as many as 12 in the second quarter, UMW held off a late surge from the Yotes to earn the three-point victory. The team turned in another hot-shooting performance, hitting 48.2 percent (27-56) from the field, 50.0 percent (9-18) from three, and 68.2 percent (15-22) from the foul line. Lund paced the team in points (17), assists (four), and steals (two). Pancost one was rebound away from a double-double with nine boards and 12 points.

 THE PACK PERSPECTIVE 
The Bulldogs are putting up 74.0 points, 39.5 rebounds, 15.0 assists, 5.0 steals, and 2.5 blocks per game. As a team, they are shooting 49.1 percent from the floor, 52.5 percent from downtown, and 59.4 percent from the foul line through two games.
Four players are averaging in double figures: Bailee Sayler (15.5), Isabella Lund (14.5), Ava Bellach (12.5), and Maile Wilcox (10.0). Kyle Pancost paces the team with 8.0 rebounds per game. Lund and Wilcox are leading the team in assists with 3.5 and 3.0 per game, respectively.

 WELCOME TO THE SULLIVAN ERA 
First-year head coach Ryan Sullivan has made a statement with his first two games at the helm of the Bulldogs, leading the team to a 2-0 start with both wins coming over ranked or receiving votes opponents.
 
 HELPING HANDS 
Montana Western has tallied 30 assists in its first two games of the season, posting 17 against SOU and 13 against CI. Additionally, nine of 11 players who have seen the court this season have recorded at least one assist.

 SAYLER FOR THREEEEE
Bailee Sayler has missed just one shot in nine attempts from beyond the arc this year. She went 6-of-7 from deep in a 19-point performance against #14 Southern Oregon and drained both three-point shots in the contest against College of Idaho.

 CRASH THE BOARDS 
Kyle Pancost has been a force on the glass for the Bulldogs, tallying 16 total rebounds, including seven on the offensive end. Keke Davis and Bailee Sayler have also reached double figures in rebounding with 11 apiece.
 
 THE OPPONENTS 
LC State
  • 2-0 on the season after back-to-back wins over Dickinson State.
  • The Warriors are putting up 88.5 points, 42.5 rebounds, and 16.0 assists per game.
  • Payton Hymas leads the team with 19.5 points per game, followed by Sitara Byrd (18.5) and Darian Herring (11.5).
  • Herring is registering team-bests in rebounds (13.5), assists (6.0), and blocks (3.0)
  • Byrd is snagging 5.0 steals per game.
  • Lindsey Wilson is shooting a team-high 72.7 percent from the floor while Byrd leads from beyond the arc (53.8 percent) and Hymas tops the team at the foul line (91.7 percent)
Eastern Oregon
  • Opened 2025-26 with wins over #18 Arizona Christian and Embry Riddle.
  • The Mountaineers are posting 63.0 points, 38.5 rebounds, and 12.5 assists per game.
  • Maggie Smith paces the team offensively with 11.0 points per game, with Kelsie Siegner and Kaiea Waiwaiole close behind at 10.5 and 10.0 ppg, respectively.
  • Siegner is tallying team-highs in rebounds (11.5), steals (3.0) and blocks (2.0)
  • Brinley Hagemeier is dishing out a team-best 3.5 assists per game.
  • Waiwaiole is shooting 60.0 percent from the field, Mya Alvarado leads from three (40.0 percent), and Siegner leads from the charity stripe (100.0 percent).
 SERIES HISTORY 
The Bulldogs are 25-44 all-time against the Warriors. In the last matchup between the two sides, UMW fell 78-63 on the road (11/10/23).
 
Western is 18-7 all-time against the Mountaineers but were bested 80-78 in their last meeting (11/11/23)
 
 LOOKING AHEAD 
Following the weekend, UMW opens Frontier play with three straight road games. The Bulldogs will take on Valley City State (11/21), Mayville State (11/22), and rival Montana Tech (11/28).
