Bulldog WBB Hosts Mayville State and Valley City State

DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western women's basketball program (4-5, 2-3 FC) welcomes Mayville State (1-8, 0-5 FC) and Valley City State (5-4, 2-3 FC) to Straugh Gymnasium this week.

 IN CASE YOU MISSED IT… 
UMW slipped to 4-5 on the year following two losses to #16 Carroll and #15 Rocky Mountain last week.
 
Against the Fighting Saints, Western shot 47.8 percent from the floor (22-46), 9.1 percent (1-11) from three, and 61.1 percent (11-18) from the foul line. The team tallied 34 rebounds, eight assists, and seven steals. Isabella Lund paced the team with 20 points while Gio Horner (13) and Keke Davis (12) were also in double figures. Bailee Sayler grabbed a team-best seven boards while Davis led with three assists and two steals.
 
Against the Battlin' Bears, the Bulldogs shot 29.5 percent (18-61) from the field, 28.6 percent (6-21) from distance, and 92.3 percent (12-13) from the foul line. They earned 25 rebounds, 11 assists, nine steals, and one block. Sayler put up team-highs in both points (18) and rebounds (six). Gio Horner also scored in double-digits with 11. Isabella Lund tallied team-highs with four assists and six steals. Kyle Pancost swatted the lone block of the game for UMW.
 
 THE PACK PERSPECTIVE 
The Bulldogs are averaging 65.1 points, 34.9 rebounds, and 13.2 assists per game through nine games. They are shooting 41.3 percent from the floor, 35.6 percent from beyond the arc, and 69.7 percent from the foul line. Additionally, UMW has earned 7.6 steals and 2.6 blocks per game.
 
Two Bulldogs are putting up double figures in scoring; Isabella Lund (13.3), Bailee Sayler (12.1). Kyle Pancost pulls down a team-best 5.6 rebounds per game while Lund dishes out a team-high 3.4 assists. Lund also tops the team in steals (2.0) while Sayler swats 1.1 blocks per game. Keke Davis paces the team in field-goal percentage (48.0), Sayler leads in three-point percentage (51.3). Lund is hitting a team-best 81.8 percent from the charity stripe.
 
 FRESH FACES 
In addition to seven new players, Western women's basketball also has a new coaching staff. First-year head Coach Ryan Sullivan takes the helm after an accomplished stint at Sheridan High School in Sheridan, Wyoming. Sullivan brought Wes Knox on board to serve as assistant coach.
 
 BULLDOGS IN THE RANKINGS 
As a team, Western is 15th in the nation in three-point percentage (35.6). Individually, Bailee Sayler ranks 12th in the NAIA in three-point percentage (51.3).
 
 FEELIN' FINE AT THE FOUL LINE 
The Bulldogs hit 92.3 percent (12-13) from the free-throw line against Rocky Mountain, marking their highest FT% of the season.
 
 FROM DOWNTOWN 
In the Frontier, UMW sits fourth in three-point percentage (35.6).
 
 HELPING HANDS 
The Bulldogs have reached double-figures in assists in all but one game this season, including a campaign-high 22 at Mayville State (11/22/25).
 
 JEWEL THIEFS 
Western has snagged at least five steals in eight of nine games in 2025-26. The Bulldogs snagged a season-best 18 at Mayville State (11/22/25).
 
 SHARP SHOOTER 
Isabella Lund ranks ninth in the league in scoring with 13.3 points per game.

Bailee Sayler is ninth in the Frontier in blocks, swatting 1.1 per game.

Keke Davis ranks seventh in the FC in free-throw percentage, draining 65.7 percent from the line this season.

Isabella Lund registered a career-high six steals against Rocky Mountain. She has five multi-steal outings on the campaign.

Bailee Sayler ranks second in the Frontier in three-point percentage (51.3) while ranking seventh in threes per game (2.2).
 
 HOW MAY SHE ASSIST YOU? 
Isabella Lund ranks sixth in the Frontier in assists per game (3.4). She has recorded three or more assists on six occasions.

Isabella Lund ranks fourth in the FC in free-throw percentage, draining 81.8 percent from the line this season.
 
 THE OPPONENTS 
Mayville State (1-8, 0-5 FC)
  • The Comets are averaging 56.9 points, 38.3 rebounds, 9.7 assists, 9.7 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game in 2025-26.
  • They are shooting 34.0 percent from the floor, 24.1 percent from three, and 65.1 percent from the foul line.
  • Hannah Stark paces the team in both points (10.2) and rebounds (7.2).
  • Laela Jensen (9.6), Misti Sempel (8.8), Bella Kanz (7.3), and Whitney Wellk (6.4) round out the top five scorers. 
  • Jensen tops the team in both assists (2.1) and steals (2.2).
  • Four players share the team lead in blocks (0.3 per game).
  • Jensen is shooting team-bests in field-goal percentage (47.8) and three-point percentage (37.9) while Stark leads from the stripe (84.2).

  • The Vikings are posting 75.0 points, 41.8 rebounds, and 14.0 assists, 12.8 steals, and 2.6 blocks per game.
  • They are shooting 39.5 percent from the floor, 25.6 percent from deep, and 71.3 percent from the line.
  • Ellie Braaten paces the team with 13.1 points per game, followed by JayCee Richter at 9.2.
  • Abby Aslesen pulls down a team-best 6.2 rebounds per game while Braaten dishes out a team-high 3.3 assists.
  • Richter is shooting a team-leading 45.2 percent from the floor, , Liz Lukken leads from beyond the arc (38.5), and Aslesen is hitting 78.6 percent from the line.
  • VCSU is first in the FC in steals 12.8, third in points per game (74.1), and fourth in both free-throw percentage (72.3) and rebounds (40.6).
  • Individually, Braaten is second in steals (2.5) and fifth in assists (3.3)and  Aslesen ranks seventh in free-throw percentage (78.6).
 
 SERIES HISTORY 
The Bulldogs are 1-1 all-time against MSU, winning the first matchup of 2025-26 81-60 on the road (11/22/25).
 
Western is 1-1 all-time against VCSU, earning the 66-62 victory when the two sides met earlier this season (11/21/25)
