MEN'S BASKETBALL
The Montana Western men’s basketball team (13-11) faced a tough home game against (RV) Rocky Mountain College, ultimately falling 98-93 in a closely contested match on Thursday night. Despite shooting an impressive 52.8% from the field in the second half, the Bulldogs were outmatched at the free-throw line. The Battlin’ Bears capitalized on their opportunities, finishing 30-of-39 from the stripe, while the Bulldogs managed only 10-of-24. Fouls also played a significant role as well, with UMW being whistled for 27 fouls compared to Rocky’s 15. On Saturday, the Bulldogs bounced back with a 92-82 victory over Carroll College. Jalyn Stepney led the charge with a game-high and season-best of 28 points. This week they will travel all the way up to the Hi-Line to take on the MSU-Northern Lights on Thursday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. at the Armory Gymnasium in Havre, Mont. On Saturday, Feb. 15, at 4 p.m. they will return home to take on the University of Providence Argos in the Straugh Gymnasium.
