UMW Rodeo Kicks Off 2025-26 Season at Trapper Stampede 1 and 2

DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western rodeo teams open their 2025-26 campaigns with back-to-back rodeos hosted by Northwest College in Cody, Wyo. Trapper Stampede #1 takes place Friday, Sept. 5 with Trapper Stampede #2 following on Saturday.

TRAPPER STAMPEDE #1
Multiple Bulldogs will compete in Slack beginning Friday morning. On the women's side, Teely Bott, Cole Collins, Hailey Matthews, Kelsi Costello, Sydney Fitzpatrick, Maddie Eskew, Brylan Garrett, Kaylee Kesl, Kassidy Bremner, Casey Orduno, Josie Robbins, Laura Haight, and Tori Murnion will take the stage in Barrel Racing.

Robbins, Costello, Tavy Leno, Garrett, Kesl, Jaycie Richey, Brooke Richey, Tynell Mclnenly, Georgia King, and Mackenzie Griffin are set to participate in goat tying.

Garrett, Robbins, Griffin, King, Haight, B. Richey, Matthews, Mclnenly, Leno, Bremner, Murnion, Kesl Charlee Resch, Taylor Burgee, and Jacee Winward will compete in Breakaway Roping

For the men's team, Luke Garrison, Teegan Arnold, Carson Daniels, and Tatum Hansen will participate in Steer Wrestling.

Racin Allen, Bry Severe, Jake Deveraux, and Arnold will face off in Tie-Down Roping.

The pairs competing in Team Roping during Slack are Gavin Knutson/Garrison, Leno/Clay Pendergrass, Hansen/Cade Costello, Robbins/Winward, Konnor Ward/Daniels, B. Richey/ Jade Ramon, Burgee/Cooper Olaveson, Cooper Pavkov/Deveraux, Resch/Mclnenly, Bott/Severe, and Kesl/Arnold.

In the Performance, taking place at 7 p.m. Friday evening Burgee, Leno, and King will compete in Barrel Racing while Resch will participate in goat tying.

K. Costello, J. Richey, Bott, Kadie Bends, and Mylee Barry will take on Breakaway Roping.

Coy Montgomery (Bareback Riding), Pavkov (Steer Wrestling/ Tie-Down Roping), Pendergrass (Steer Wrestling), Grant Kiechler (Steer Wrestling), Ramon (Tie-Down Roping), and Daniels (Tie-Down Roping) will also take part in the Performance.

Cardell Laughery and Denten Skjonsberg will compete in the first section of Saddle Bronc Riding while Olaveson, C. Costello, and Chase Martin will compete in the second section.

In Bull Riding, Knutson and Westen Wade will compete. Knutson is coming off a Dillon Jaycees Rodeo Bull Riding win.

J. Richey/Haight and Allen/Jake Miller will compete in Friday night's Team-Roping competition

TRAPPER STAMPEDE #2
In Saturday's Slack, Leno, Garrett, King, Eskew, Burgee, Kesl, Haight, Murnion, Matthews, Bott, Orduno, Bremner, and Collins will ride in Barrel Racing.

K. Costello, Mclnenly, Robbins, J. Richey, B. Richey, Kesl, Resch, and Griffin will take part in goat tying.

Resch, Haight, Burgee, Garrett, King, Kesl, Matthews, Barry, Winward, J. Richey, B. Richey, Leno, K. Costello, Bott, Robbins, Mclnenly, and Bends are set to compete in Breakaway Roping

Pendergrass, Kiechler, and Pavkov will compete in Saturday morning Steer Wrestling while Ramon, Daniels, Pavkov, and Arnold will face off in Tie-Down Roping.

The pairs competing in Team Roping during Saturday's Slack are Hansen/ C. Costello, Allen/ Miller, Burgee/Olaveson, Bott/Severe, Leno/Pendergrass, Resch/Mclnenly, Robbins/Winward, B. Richey/ Ramon, Ward/Daniels, J. Richey/Haight, and Knutson/Garrison

In Performance (7 p.m. Saturday), Fitzpatrick, Robbins, and K. Costello will participate in Barrels while Garrett, King, and Leno compete in goat tying.

In Breakaway, Murnion, Bremner, and Griffin will take the stage.

Coy Montgomery will once again compete in Bareback on Saturday evening. Olaveson, Martin, Skjonsberg, C. Costello, and Laughery will participate across both sections of Saddle Bronc.

Hansen, Daniels, Garrison, and Arnold will compete in Steer Wrestling while Severe, Deveraux, and Allen compete in Tie-Down and Wade and Knutson perform in Bull Riding.

In Performance Team Roping, the pairs are Kesl/Arnold, Pavkov/Deveraux, and Kiechler/Dillon Waymire.

FALL SEASON PREVIEW
The Bulldogs will compete four times in the fall. Up first are Trapper Stampedes #1 and #2, followed by the Dawson CC Rodeo (Sept. 12-13). Montana Western's home rodeo takes place Sept. 26-27 to wrap up the fall slate.

THE OPPONENTS
The field consists of seven teams, including Dawson CC, Miles CC, Montana, Montana State, MSU-Northern, Northwest College, and UMW.

LOOKING AHEAD
Following the Trapper Stampedes, UMW Rodeo will compete at the Dawson Community Colllege rodeo Sept. 12-13 in Glendive, Mont.
