DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western women's basketball program 6-8, 4-6 FC) were clipped by (RV) MSU-Northern 63-40 Friday evening.
STAT BREAKDOWN
UMW shot 26.7 percent (16-60) from the floor, 20.0 percent (3-15) from distance, and 62.5 percent (5-8) from the foul line.
Western recorded 34 boards, seven assists, 11 steals, and two blocks.
LEADERBOARD
Bailee Sayler paced the team with 10 points while
Keke Davis pulled down a team-best six rebounds.
Brooke Deyak and
Sammi Love each tallied two assists.
Isabella Lund tied for the game-high with three steals.
Both Davis and Sayler earned a block in the contest.
NOTABLES
The Bulldogs registered double figures in steals for the fourth time this season.
Sayler reached double digits in points for the ninth time on the campaign.
Lund posted her fifth game with at least three takeaways.
GAME SUMMARY
Montana Western was stout on defense in the first quarter, holding the visitors to just four points, and leading 10-4 at the break.
MSU-Northern turned it on in the second, posting 19 points to take the one point lead, 23-22, into the locker room.
The Skylights couldn't miss in the third, stretching their lead to as many as 18 by the end of the period.
Despite a better defensive quarter from the Bulldogs in the fourth, they couldn't quite close the gap, and MSUN took the victory.
THE OPPOSITION
The Skylights shot 43.4 percent (23-53) from the floor, 42.3 percent (11-26) from three, and 100.0 percent (6-6) from the charity stripe. They tallied 32 rebounds, 13 assists, 12 steals, and four blocks. Canzas HisBadHorse led the game with 18 points, followed by Lauren Gunn (15) and Ciera Agasiva (13). HisBadHorse earned a double-double with a game-best 14 rebounds and also led all players in blocks with three. Gunn and Maddie Williamson shared the game-lead in assists with three apiece while Agasiva tied for the game-high in steals (three).
