Western WBB Hosts #6 Dakota State and Bellevue

DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western women's basketball program (10-12, 8-10 FC) welcomes #6 Dakota State (21-3, 16-2 FC), and Bellevue (9-14. 5-13 FC) to Straugh Gymnasium for the final two home matchups of the regular season. The Bellevue game will serve as the Bulldogs "Senior Night."

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT…
UMW has won three in a row after going 2-0 last weekend against Bismarck State (82-73) and Dickinson State (80-56).  
 
Against the Mystics, the Bulldogs shot 44.8 percent (30-67) from the floor, 30.8 percent (8-26) from three, and 82.4 percent (14-17) from the charity stripe. They posted 44 rebounds, 15 assists, eight steals, and four blocks. Bailee Sayler led the game with 20 points, followed by Tayva Phillips (12), Isabella Lund (10), and Keke Davis (10). Davis grabbed a game-best 10 rebounds. Lund led all players in both assists (eight) and steals (three). Maile Wilcox swatted a game-best two blocks.
 
Against the Blue Hawks shot a blistering 54.2 percent (32-59) from the field, 33.3 percent (7-21) from three, and 69.2 percent (9-13) from the line. The team tallied 34 rebounds, 16 assists, nine steals, and four blocks. Sayler led the game with 21 points, followed by Davis (12), Kyle Pancost (12), and Phillips (10). Pancost posted game-highs in boards (nine) and blocks (three). Lund handed out a game-best five assists. Phillips and Mila Hawk shared the game-high with two steals each.
 
THE PACK PERSPECTIVE
The Bulldogs are averaging 65.4 points, 36.6 rebounds, and 13.7 assists. They are shooting 39.9 percent from the floor, 33.5 percent from three, and 69.5 percent from the foul line. They are also posting 8.9 steals and 2.9 blocks per game.
 
Two Bulldogs are putting up double figures in scoring; Isabella Lund (12.5), Bailee Sayler (12.3). Keke Davis is pulling down a team-high 6.3 boards.  Lund also tops the team in assists (4.1) and is tied for the lead in steals with Tayva Phillips (2.0 apiece). Sayler swats 0.9 blocks per game. Davis is shooting a team-high 50.4 percent from the field while Deyak leads from beyond the arc (45.0) and Sayler tops the team from the foul line (86.1).
 
BAILEE SAYLER EARNS FC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bailee Sayler picked up her first Erck Hotels/ Frontier Conference Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week Award after back-to-back 20-point performances last weekend. She averaged 20.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists. She shot 51.7 percent from the floor and drained all six free throw attempts.  
 
STACKING UP
Western ranks third in the Frontier in three-point percentage (33.5) and have shot over 30.0 percent from beyond the arc in each of the last five contests.

HOW MAY SHE ASSIST YOU?
Isabella Lund dished out a career-best eight assists against Bismarck State. She has nine games with at least five assists on the year.

DIFFERENCE MAKER
Kyle Pancost put together two strong performances against the Mystics and Blue Hawks. She shot 57.1 percent (8-14) from the floor and 80.0 percent (4-5) from the foul line. Against BSC she posted eight points and eight rebounds and followed that with a career-high matching 12 points and nine rebounds against the Blue Hawks.

WALKING BUCKET
Bailee Sayler has come on strong for the Bulldogs, posting four-straight games with at least 18 points. She has 13 double-digit scoring outings on the year.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE THE EFFORT
Keke Davis recorded her second double-double of the season with a 10-point, 10-rebound outing against Bismarck State. She has tallied at least 10 points in 10 games this season and four games with at least 10 rebounds.

JEWEL THIEF
Tayva Phillips has recorded a steal in all but one outing this season. She has posted seven multi-steal games on the year.

GET THAT OUTTA HERE!
Maile Wilcox swatted a career-high two blocks against the Mystics. Moreover, she has recorded a block in three of her last four games.

THE OPPONENTS
#6 Dakota State (21-3, 16-2 FC)
  • The Trojans are averaging 80.3 points, 42.4 rebounds, 17.7 assists, 11.8 steals, and 4.1 blocks per game.
  • They are shooting 43.9 percent from the floor, 32.8 percent from three, and 63.9 percent from the foul line.
  • Tabor Teel leads the team in points (15.8), rebounds (10.9), assists (4.0) and blocks (1.8) per game.
  • Caitlin Dyer (12.1) and Cierra Watkins (10.1) are also scoring in double figures.
  • Bria Wasmund paces the team in steals (2.0).
  • In the NAIA, Dakota State is ranked 17th in points per game (80.3).

  • The Bruins are putting up 62.4 points, 36.8 rebounds, 11.2 assists, 6.2 steals, and 3.2 blocks per game.
  • They are shooting 39.5 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from distance, and 71.4 percent from the stripe.
  • Zakiyyah Muhammad leads the team with 12.4 points per game, followed by Joy Beran at 11.0.
  • The pair also rank first and second in rebounds at 7.1 and 7.0, respectively.
  • Drasoni Kyles dishes out a team-best 2.6 assists per game.
  • Karoline Ellison tops the team with 1.2 steals per game.
  • Muhammad swats a team-high 1.1 blocks.
  • In the FC, Bellevue is third in three-point percentage (33.8).
  • Individually, Muhammad is eighth in blocks (1.1).
 
SERIES HISTORY
The Bulldogs are 1-1 all time against the Trojans, falling 81-62 earlier this season in Madison (1/17/26).

UMW is 0-1 against the Bruins after being narrowly beaten 58-57 in the first matchup between the pair (1/16/26).
 
LOOKING AHEAD
Western heads on the road for the final two games of the regular season. They will compete at Providence (2/20) and MSU-Northern (2/21).
