Bulldog WBB Rolls Over Bellevue, 77-57, on Senior Night

DILLON, Mont. – The UMW women's basketball program (11-13, 9-11 FC) handled Bellevue (9-16. 5-15 FC) 77-57 Saturday evening.
 
Though the game was close after the first quarter, the Bulldogs outscored the Bruins 62-42 over the final three frames to seal the deal.
 
STAT BREAKDOWN
UMW shot 47.5 percent (29-61) from the field, 25.0 percent (6-24) from three, and 68.4 percent (13-19) from the foul line.  
 
Western earned 40 rebounds, 16 assists, seven steals, and four blocks.
 
The Bulldogs registered 40 points in the paint, 17 points off turnovers, 15 second-chance points, and 35 bench points.  
 
LEADERBOARD
Bailee Sayler led all players with 25 points while Tayva Phillips (16), Isabella Lund (12), and Keke Davis (11) were also in double figures.
 
Davis and Kyle Pancost tied for the team-lead in rebounds with nine each.
 
Lund dished out a game-high eight assists.
 
Ava Bellach snagged a team-high two steals.
 
Kyle Pancost swatted a game-best three blocks.

Sayler posted a career high in points
 
Lund matched her career high in assists.
 
Davis notched her third double-digit scoring effort in the last four games.
 
Pancost registered at least eight rebounds for the fourth straight game.

GAME SUMMARY
The two sides see-sawed in the opening frame, with neither side managing to lead by more than four.
 
The game was tied at 15 after the first.
 
Western went on a 6-0 run to start the second quarter, and though Bellevue tied it once more, the Bulldogs never trailed again in the contest. They held a six-point advantage, 37-31, after 20 minutes.
 
UMW shot 40.0 percent (13-33) from the floor, 31.3 percent (5-16) from three, and 66.7 percent (6-9) from the foul line in the first half.  
 
Western did not let off the gas in the third, posting its second-straight 20-point quarter.
 
The Bulldogs led by 17, 58-41, with one quarter remaining.
 
The visitors did not get closer than 16 in the fourth, and UMW cruised to the 20-point win.
 
THE OTHER GUYS
The Bruins shot 33.3 percent (20-60) from the field, 22.2 percent (6-27) from three, and 84.6 percent (11-13) from the charity stripe. They tallied 35 rebounds, 10 assists, four steals, and two blocks. Zakiyyah Muhammad tallied a team-best 14 points, followed by Karoline Ellison (13), Joy Beran (11). Muhammad also pulled down a game-best 10 rebounds and posted the both of Bellevue's blocks. Ellison led the team in assists (five) and the game in steals (three).
 
LOOKING AHEAD
Western is on the road for the final two games of the regular season, traveling to Providence (2/20), and MSU-Northern (2/21).
