Michael Marley entered his first season on the Bulldog coaching staff in 2025 as a student-assistant coach for the defensive line, where he helped Western to a 7-3 overall record. 

With his help, the defense allowed just 19.8 points per game and ranked second in conference in sacks (31). The defense earned 69.7 tackles per game. He coached defensive lineman Tyler Walker to AP, AFCA, and VSN All-American honors. Walker also received Frontier All-Conference First Team recognition and picked up one FC and one NAIA Defensive Player of the Week nod.
