2021 will be Rob Goode's 10th with the Bulldogs and 9th as defensive coordinator.
He has coached 12 Frontier Conference First-Team All-Conference recipients, nine Frontier Conference Second-Team All-Conference Recipients, and three Frontier Conference Defensive Player of the Year Recipients. Several Bulldogs have earned national recognition as well earning two Cliff Harris Award Finalists, two NAIA All-American First-Team Recipients, 2 AP NAIA All-American First-Team Recipients, AFCA-NAIA All-American Second-Team Recipient, and three AFCA-NAIA All-American First-Team Recipients
Defensive Coordinator - Montana Western (2013-Present)
2013 was Goode's first season as the Defensive Coordinator at Montana Western. A young Bulldog defense had the conference leaders in tackles, interceptions and sacks, and ranked in the top five of the Frontier Conference for Defensive Scoring.
In 2014, Goode's second as the Defensive Coordinator, the Bulldog defense finished No. 3 in the Frontier Conference in both Defensive Scoring and Total Defense, surrendering only 26.7 points per game and allowing 380 yards per game. The Bulldog defense was also No.1 in Rushing Defense in 2014.
2015 saw the Bulldog defense finish No.1 in the Frontier Conference in Scoring Defense giving up 17.5 points per game (8th NAIA) and Rushing Defense surrendering 104.7 yards per game (6th NAIA). In 2015 the Bulldog defense finished No. 2 in Total Defense giving up 340.9 yards per game helping the team to a record of 7-3 and a 3rd place finish in the Frontier Conference.
In 2016 the Bulldogs again finished in 3rd place in the Frontier with a record of 7-4. The Bulldog Defense was No. 2 in Scoring Defense at 20.8 points per game and Total Defense at 354.8 yards per game. Again in 2016 the Bulldog Defense led the Frontier Conference in Rushing Defense at 120.5 yards per game.
In 2018 the Bulldog defense saw drastic improvements in serval statistical categories from the previous season. The Bulldog defense finished No. 3 in Scoring Defense giving up 22.1 points per game. The Bulldog Defense also produced the most Turnovers in the Frontier with 24 takeaways helping the team finish 6-4 and tied for 2nd place overall in the Frontier Conference.
Again in 2019 the Bulldogs finished 7-3 and alone in 2nd place in the Frontier Conference. The Bulldog Defense finished 3rd in Scoring Defense surrendering 21.5 points per game and 3rd in Total Defense allowing 375.4 yards per game. The Bulldog defense once again led the Frontier Conference in Turnovers gained with 27.
Assistant Coaching Career
Loras College (2012) Goode was the running backs coach where he coached the 2012 IIAC First Team All-Conference Running Back.
Montana Western (2011) Goode served as an intern assistant coach for wide receivers and assistant strength coach.
Rockford College (2005-07) Goode was a graduate assistant where he coached 11 All-UMAC Selections at LB, 1 UMAC Defensive Player of the Year, and 1 d3football.com All-North Region recipient.
Goode was the defensive coordinator and physical education teacher at Urbana High School in Urbana, Ill.
Playing Career (Rockford College)
As a player, Goode played four years at Rockford College where he was Co-Captain. He played in 27 games in his career totaling 72 total tackle, 12.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks. He forced three fumbles and recovered one. He had four pass breakups, an interception and a blocked kick. He was a two-time All-UMAC selection and selected to ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District team.
