2019-20 will be Nakashima’s fourth year with the Bulldogs, and his sixth overall at the college level. In his three years at Montana Western, he helped coach them to three straight National Tournament appearances while posting a record of 81-22. Coach Nakashima’s responsibilities include recruiting, skill development, scouting reports, scheduling, and basketball operations. During his time at Montana Western, Nakashima has coached five All-Americans and seven Daktronics Scholar-Athletes.
In 2018-19, Nakashima helped the Bulldogs to their first NAIA National Championship. He helped develop NAIA and WBCA Player of the Year Bri King, two All-Americans (King, first-team), and Britt Cooper (Honorable Mention), as well as three Frontier All-Conference players, King (First-Team), Cooper (First-Team), and Cierra Lamey (Honorable Mention).
In 2017-2018, Nakashima helped the Bulldogs make their deepest run in school history, making it to the NAIA National Tournament Semifinals. He also recruited the Frontier Conference Player of the Year and First-Team All-American Bri King. Nakashima also helped develop two Frontier All-Conference players, Britt Cooper (Second-Team), and Cierra Lamey (Honorable Mention).
In 2016-2017, Nakashima helped the Bulldogs their best record in 10 years, and reach the NAIA National Tournament for the first time since 2007. As well as coaching two NAIA All-Americans, Aniese Palmore (Second-Team), and Kaye Bignell (Honorable Mention).
In 2015-16, Nakashima helped the Swedes of Bethany College achieve a double digit win season for the first time since 2008. During that same season, he coached a player who earned all-conference honorable mention and all-conference defensive team.
Previously he was an assistant at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas, Warner Pacific College in Portland, Ore, and an AAU coach for Team Concept in Portland, Ore.
Originally from Portland, Ore., Nakashima attended Portland Adventist Academy in Portland, Oregon and made all-state, all-league and was the team captain finishing fourth in all-time career points, first in steals, first in 3-Pointers made, and fourth in assists. After graduating high school Nakashima was a walk-on for a year at Hawaii Pacific University before transferring to Pacific Union College, where he earned his bachelor's degree in marketing.
