The Bulldogs played their closest game of the season going up against the Centurions of Yellowstone Christian College. The first half saw 10 lead changes as the two teams went into the break with the Bulldogs leading 40-34. The Centurions came out with a strong 2-3 zone defense causing problems for the Bulldogs, holding them to 38 percent shooting from the floor. Junior guard Brian Neal (Tacoma, Wash.) scored 16 points in the first half, most of which came in the final minutes as he was able to get a couple of contested lay-ups to fall through the cylinder.
Dom Robinson (Tacoma, Wash.) sparked the second half for the Bulldogs as he stole the opening inbound pass and laid in the right-handed lay-up. The Bulldogs shooting woes from behind the arc continued in the second half. Senior Shyke Smalls (Great Falls, Mont.) showcased his abilities midway through the second half, capitalizing on back to back strong drives to the hoop and shortly thereafter connected on a rare three for the Bulldogs. Plagued by foul trouble, Smalls ended with 10 points on the night.
The Bulldogs out scored their opponent by 12 points in the second half of play on their way to a 91-73 victory and fourth win of the season. Brian Neal followed his impressive first half with a equally impressive second half totaling a team high 24 points along with six rebounds.
Montana Western and Yellowstone Christian College will face off again Nov.18 at 3 P.M in Straugh Gymnasium.
