The Montana Western Bulldogs came out flying and jumped out to an 11-0 lead just four minutes into the first quarter. Eastern Oregon called a timeout and that seem to wake Mountaineers out of their Tryptophan hangover. As the Mountaineers then started running the court and forcing bad shots from the Bulldogs, going on an 11-4 run themselves cutting the lead to 15-11 and the end of the first quarter.
The Bulldogs regrouped and started the second quarter on a 12-0 run claiming a 16 point lead while playing a stifling defense the mountaineers couldn't figure out. It took eastern Oregon 6:33 to score in the second quarter. The bulldogs took a 31-21 lead into halftime.
Bulldogs were in a battle in the second half fighting their way to a 13 point win. The Bulldogs got clutch three point shooting from Seniors Aniese Palmore (Santa Monica, Calif.) and Jill Jacobs (Camano Island, Wash.) to keep the Mountaineers at bay.
Sophomore Britt Cooper (Harrison, Mont.) led all scorers with 18 points, she added three rebounds, three assists, and two blocks. Senior Kaye Bignell (Helena, Mont.) added 15 points and 5 rebounds. Palmore finished with 10 points and Jacobs with nine, all from beyond the arc.
