The Royals took advantage of a slow start by the Bulldogs jumping out to a 16 point lead halfway through the first half. The Bulldogs would start warming up and fought their way back into the game, before Dom Robinson (Tacoma, Wash.) hit two three-point shots in the final minute giving the bulldogs a 42-37 lead heading into the intermission.
The Bulldogs would continue their momentum building a 14 point lead with 10 minutes remaining in the contest. However the Bulldogs lost their touch, as turnovers, cold shooting and foul trouble allowed the Royals to claw their way back into the game giving the Bulldogs all they could handle.
Robinson hit a pair of free throws with under a minute remaining and Troy Scott (Dillon, Mont.) blocked the Royals last second shot to preserve the Bulldog win.
Robinson finished with 20 points going 5-10 from the field and 8-8 from the charity stripe. Defending national player of the week Shyke Smalls (Great Falls, Mont.) added 13 points and five rebounds. And Zaccheus Darko-Kelly (Missoula, Mont.) added 11 points three assists and three rebounds.
The Bulldogs will play Warner Pacific College Dec. 20 at 5 P.M. in their second game of the Cactus Classic in Chandler, Ariz.
