Helena, Mont. – Back in December the Montana Western Bulldogs (19-5, 8-5) won for the first time in Helena in 11 years, it only took them two months to do it again. The Bulldogs blew out the Carroll College Fighting Saints (16-9, 6-7) 61-43, to complete the three-game season sweep.
The Bulldogs feisty defense took the fight out of the Saints, holding them to 3-25 shooting, four points in first quarter, and 11 for the half. The Bulldogs took full advantage of the Saints poor shooting and turnovers, building a 21 point lead at the break.
The preverbal lid came off the basket in the second half, as the Saints were finally able to get shots to fall, shooting 13-40 in the second. But the Bulldogs were able to withstand any rally by the Saints and coasted to an easy victory.
The Bulldogs shot 39 percent from the field for the game, and 50 percent from downtown. The Bulldogs made 17 of 19 from the charity stripe.
Aniese Palmore (Santa, Monica, Calif) led the Bulldogs with 19 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
Kaye Bignell (Avon, Mont.) scored 16 points and grabbed seven boards.
The Bulldogs travel to Billings, Mont. on Feb. 11 to take on the Battlin' Bears of Rocky Mountain College. Tip-off is set for 5:30 P.M.
