Bulldog Football Makes the Long Trip to Southern Oregon

The University of Montana Western Bulldogs-will make the long trip to Ashland, Ore. to face Southern Oregon University on Saturday Nov. 10. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m. MST.

The Bulldogs So Far

  • The Bulldogs are ranked 23rd in the nation, boast a 6-3 record, and are currently in second place in the conference with one game remaining.


What to Watch For

  • The Bulldogs are looking to get their first win in Ashland, Ore. They are 0-5 at Raider Stadium and 2-8 overall.
  • Watch for the Bulldogs to put points on the board, after back-to-back weeks of only scoring 14 points. Look for the Offense to start clicking. They are tied for second in the conference averaging 31 points a game.
  • Fourth quarter magic. The Bulldogs have outscored opponents 121-13 in the fourth quarter this season.
  • The Bulldogs have scored six defensive touchdowns this year, and have five pick-6's. The Bulldogs only had five defensive scores the past two years combined.
  • Junior linebacker and All-American candidate Jason Ferris leads the conference and is sixth in the nation with 113 total tackles and is third in the nation with 12.6 tackles per game. He is also eleventh in the nation with 1.7 passes defended per game.
  • Freshman quarterback Jon Jund is twelfth in the nation in passing yards per game with 254.
  • With a win the Bulldogs still have an outside shot of making the NAIA playoffs.


Scouting the Raiders

  • Southern Oregon started the season 4-0 and climbed as high as second in the top-25 poll. They have lost four of the last five and have fallen out of the top-25.
  • The Raiders are second in the nation in total sacks with 40.5.
  • Southern's Sean Rogers is sixth in the nation in total sacks, averaging one per game.
  • The Raiders average 31 points a game, tied for second in the conference with the Bulldogs.
  • Southern's place kicker Marcus Montano is one of the more accurate kickers in the nation, connecting on 83 percent of his kicks. He sits second in the nation with 14 made field goals.
