The 15th ranked Bulldogs battled the no. 12 Rocky Mountain Battlin' Bears in Billings Thursday night for a chance to lock up the second seed in the Frontier Conference playoffs. The Bulldogs would come away with a quality road win, 50-42. The two teams battled for the opening 20 minutes going back-and-forth, with the Bulldogs holding a slight edge at the break. The Bulldogs would struggle early in the third, before clawing back to only trail by two heading into the deciding period. The Bulldog offense would come to life and out score the Bears by 10 down the stretch to pull out the eight point victory.Â

Alexa Welch scored a career high 13 points, and pulled down 5 rebounds.
Britt Cooper recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds.Â

Cierra Lamey were a combined 2-21 from the field and didn't score their first field goal until late in the fourth quarter.Â

"Gutty effort by the girls tonight. Lex and Savanna (Bignell) gave us a huge lift in the second half. I thought our toughness gave us a chance and we made enough plays late to hang on."
The Bulldogs So Far
The Bulldogs won the season series against Rocky winning two and dropping one. They improved to 12-5 in the Frontier and 22-7 overall. The Bulldogs secured second place in the Frontier. The Battlin' Bears fell to 11-6 in the conference and 21-6 overall.Â

The Bulldogs will close out the regular season against Carroll College in Helena, Mont. on Feb. 24. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
