Kansas City, Mo. - Montana Western men's basketball team will face Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) from Texas in the first round of the NAIA DI Men's Basketball National Championship on Thursday March 15 at 9:45 A.M. at the Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo.
The Bulldogs (25-7) are coming off a Frontier Conference regular-season championship and are tied for the most wins in a season in program history. They are making their fourth-straight appearance in the tournament and eighth trip under head coach
Steve Keller. Last season the Bulldogs fell to Dalton State in the second round.
The Bulldogs have four players who average double digit scoring, they are led by First-Team All-Conference selection
Dom Robinson 17.4 points a game. The Bulldogs shoot 51 percent from the floor, good for fourth in the nation, and are seventh in the nation in scoring.
SAGU is making their sixth-straight tournament appearance and eighth overall. Last season the Lions lost in the second round to Carroll College. The Lions (24-9) finished third in the Sooner Athletic Conference and won the conference tournament. The Lions lead the nation in steals and are third in rebounds, they shoot 44 percent from the floor and have three players who average double digit scoring.
