Missoula, Mont. - The Montana Western Cross Country team gained more experience competing against NCAA Div I schools at the Montana invitational Friday afternoon.
The 17th ranked women's team finished 10th overall, behind eight NCAA Div I teams. Senior
Mindy Kaufman finished 25th overall and was the second NAIA finisher (19:28).
Eireann O'Connor was the second Bulldog to cross the line in a time of 20:15.
Gabi Gomez (20:27) and
Emma Adams (21:12) hit their season averages coming in third and fourth.
Brianna Bruneau rounded out the scoring five for the Bulldogs with a time of (23:18).
The Bulldog men ran fast in the competitive field, finishing eighth overall and third among NAIA schools.
Russell Kujala paced the Bulldogs with a 36th place finish in a time 27:17.
Three freshman finished in the top scoring five for the Bulldogs:
Jonathan Harrison (27:34),
Jack Dolan (27:55),
Matt Wilson (28:04).
The Bulldogs are off this week and return to action on Oct. 13 when they compete in the Inland Empire Meet in Lewiston, Idaho.
