King, Lamey Lead No. 3 Bulldogs Past Skylights

The Basics
Score: No. 3 Montana Western 64 – MSU-Northern 47
Record: UMW (15-1, 6-1), MSUN (9-10, 1-6)
Location: Straugh Gymnasium – Dillon, Mont.

The third-ranked Bulldogs started fast and finished strong in a 64-47 home win over Montana State University-Northern. The Bulldogs held the Skylights to just six first quarter points. 
After jumping out to a big lead, the Bulldogs matched the Skylights shot for shot for the remaining 30 minutes to maintain the lead and not allow then Skylights a chance to comeback. Brianna King scored 19 points and Cierra Lamey recorded a double-double for the Bulldogs who shot 43 percent from the floor. With the win, the Bulldogs move into first-place in the conference. 

Turning Point
With the Bulldogs leading by 21 points early in the second quarter, the Skylights closed on a 11-3 run to only trail by 13 at the half. The run by the Skylights kept the game within striking distance.

It Was Over When

With seven minutes left the game Shannon Worster came away with the steal and transition bucket to put the Bulldogs up 18.

Individual Leaders

  • Cierra Lamey shot 7-11 from the floor for 17 points. She pulled down 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
  • Brianna King scored a game-high 19 points. She also had three assists, three rebounds, and two steals. 
  • Shannon Worster scored 12 points, and had two steals. 
  • Peyton Kehr scored 14 points to lead the Skylights.
