Bulldogs Hit the Road to Face Rocky and No. 4 Carroll

The University of Montana Western Bulldogs Men's basketball team will travel to Billings, Mont. and Helena, Mont. for two tough road games against Rocky Mountain College and No. 4 Carroll College on Jan. 24 and 26. 

The Bulldogs So Far
  • The Bulldogs are 7-12 overall and 1-7 in Frontier Conference play. 
  • The Bulldogs fell twice last weekend, 81-63 to MSU-Northern and 93-90 in overtime to No. 22 University of Providence. 
  • The Bulldogs are coming off their most complete game of the season nearly defeating UP in overtime, falling on a buzzer beater. The Bulldogs will look to build on that momentum and come away with a couple fo road wins. 
  • Cedric Boone was named Frontier Conference Player of the Week after scoring 26 points in the loss tot he Lights and 31 in the loss to the Argos.  
  • The Bulldogs take care of the ball. They are seventh in the nation with a plus 3.79 turnover margin

Who to Watch
  • Senior Kooper Kidgell is averaging a career best 16.5 points a game. He has scored 19 and 20 points in his last two games, and scored in double-figures in every game this season. 
  • Junior Cedric Boone scored 26 and 31 points last weekend bumping his average up to 13.5 points per game. 
  • Senior Troy Scott played nearly 30 minutes off the bench against UP. He recorded a double-double (10 points, 11 rebounds). 
Scouting the Opponents
  • Rocky Mountain College is 13-7 overall and 4-4 in the Frontier. They received votes in the latest coaches top-25 poll.
  • The last time they met the Battlin' Bears defeated the Bulldogs 91-68.
  • The Battlin' Bears are third in the nation in scoring margin (21.0), rebound margin (12.1), and steals (197). 
  • RMC is lead by Jared Samuelson's 19.9 points a game. The Battlin' Bears have five players averaging eight or more points. 
  • The No. 4 Carroll College Fighting Saints are 18-2 overall and 7-1 in conference play. The Saints average 88 points a game and are first in the nation in field goal percentage, shooting 54 percent from the floor. 
  • The Saints lead the nation in free-throw percentage (82.0) and 3-point percentage (44.1)
  • The Saints have a three-headed attack in Match Burnham (20.0),Matt Wyman (18.4), and Dane Warp (18.2) points a game.
