Bulldog Men Host Rocky Mountain and Carroll

The University of Montana Western Bulldogs Men's basketball team will home for the first time this new year. They host Rocky Mountain College on Jan. 10, and No. 3 Carroll College on Jan. 12, in the Straugh Gymnasium for the first two games of a four-game home stand. 

The Bulldogs So Far
  • The Bulldogs are 7-8 overall and 1-3 in Frontier Conference play. 
  • The Bulldogs split two games up north last week, defeating MSU-Northern 66-63 and falling to No. 23 University of Providence 112-69. 
  • In the win against MSU-Northern, Kooper Kidgell picked up his first career double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. 
  • Troy Scott was the only other Bulldog to score in double figures both games (10 vs MSUN, 13 vs UP).

Who to Watch
  • Senior guard Kooper Kidgell has scored in double-figures in every game this season. Kidgell is averaging a career-high 15.7 points and 4.5 rebounds a game.
  • Junior guard Cedric Boone is averaging 111.4 points a game and has dished out 41 assists. 
  • Senior guard Troy Scott is averaging a career-high 8.2 points a game, and leads the team in total rebounds (80) and rebounds per game (5.3). 
Scouting the Opponents
  • Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears received votes in the latest coaches top-25 poll and are 11-5 overall and 2-2 in Frontier play. Jared Samuelson leads the conference averaging 21.2 points a game. He also averaged 7.6 rebounds a game. 
  • The Battlin' Bears are third in the nation in total steals (164) and average over ten steals a game. They are fourth in rebound margin (13.5) and turnover margin (5.1). 
  • The No. 3 Carroll College Fighting Saints are 14-2 and 3-1 in the conference. They are third in the nation in 3-point percentage (42.5) and average nearly 90 points a game. 
  • The Saints lead the nation in free throw percentage, connecting on 82 percent of their attempts. 
  • The Saints have three player averaging nearly 20 points a game: Match Burnham (20.3), Matt Wyman (19.2), and Dane Warp (18.9).

  • Both games will take place in the Straugh Gymnasium in Dillon, Mont. 
  • Jan. 10: Rocky Mountain College at 7:30 p.m.
  • Jan. 12: Carroll College at 7:30 p.m.
