Dillon, Mont. - The Montana Western men's and women's cross country teams hosted the Montana Western open Friday afternoon at the Beaverhead Golf Course. The women's team finished third overall and the men's team didn't score as they only had three runners compete.
In the men's 8k race,sophomore
Matt Wilson led the Bulldogs with a 4th place finish with a time of 27:03. In addition,
Josh Jessop finished 6th (27:19), and
Luke Lutz finished 8th (27:33).
"The guys ran really well today, the best they have run all season," head coach
Dylan Zitzer siad. "The girls were solid as well."
The women's team was led by junior
Eireann O'Connor who placed third overall in the 5k race in a time of 19:16. In addition,
Marley May finished 6th (19:28),
Shelby Walls finished 11th (19:43),
Emma Adams finished 13th (19:49),
Mason Baseley finished 19th (20:47),
Morgan Baseley finished 21st (21:04),
Liz Varner finished 25th (22:12), and
Megan Tarmichael finished 35th (22:54).
"I'm really happy with the turnout today and to see our kids compete at home," head coach
Dylan Zitzer said. "Thanks to everyone who came out an supported us, and a big thank you to Justin and the Beaverhead Golf Course for hosting our meet today."
The Bulldogs are off until the Frontier Conference Championship Meet in Billings, Mont. on Nov. 8.
