Vancouver, Wash. - The Montana Western women's and men's cross country teams competed at the NAIA National Championship meet. The women finished 25th and the men had three individuals compete.
Eireann O'Connor became the school's second All-American finishing 25th overall, running the 5k in a time of 18:31 to pace the Bulldogs.
"I'm really pleased to see Eireann following in Mindy (Kaufman)'s footsteps and race to All-American," head coach
Dylan Zitzer said.
The women's team, making their first appearance at the national meet, finished 25th in the nation. Behind O'Connor was
Emma Adams who finished 126th (19:37),
Shelby Walls finished 168th (19:55),
Marley May finished 231st (20:20),
Mason Baseley finished 270th (20:51),
Liz Varner finished 300th (21:56) and
Morgan Baseley finished 312th (22:27).
"While we maybe didn't have the day we have been working towards, I know we have the potential to be a national class program," Zitzer said. "We have a bright future ahead of us, and I can't wait to see what we can do with another year under our belts."
In the men's 8k race,sophomore
Josh Jessop led the Bulldogs with a 93rd place finish with a time of 26:21. In addition,
Matt Wilson finished 129th (26:37) and
Luke Lutz finished 220th (27:23).
