Men's Basketball Game Notes - Week 7

Bulldogs are on the road at MSU-Northern and home against Providence

COMING UP: The Bulldogs open the 2019 Frontier Conference season on the Hi-Line against No. 17 MSU-Northern. Opening tip from the Armory Gymnasium is set for 8 p.m. on Dec. 5. The Bulldogs will return home for a matchup against No. 8 University of Providence. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. in the Straugh Gymnasium.

LOOKING AT THE OPPONENT - MSU-NORTHERN: The Bulldogs will be making their first of two trips to the Hi-Line this season. A season ago the Bulldogs split two game with th Lights in Havre and nearly won both games if it weren't for a last second three by Northern. In 2019-20 The Lights are ranked 17th in the nation and have the Frontier's best defense. They are holding opponents to a nations best 57.8 points per game and just 26 percent from beyond the arc (1st in the nation) and 35 percent from the floor (3rd in the nation). They are second in the nation behind the Bulldogs in assist/turnover ratio with Adam Huse fifth in the nation with 7.67. MSUN averages 22 assists per game and is out scoring opponents by 24 points a game. Kevon Bey is averaging 17.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Mascio McCadney is shooting 57.9 percent form the floor for 14.8 points a game will adding 4.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.0 steals a game.   

LOOKING AT THE OPPONENT - PROVIDENCE: After sitting for a year due to Frontier Conference transfer rules, former Bulldog Zaccheus Darko-Kelly is lighting up the league through six games this season. He is among league leaders in nearly every statistical category. He is 5th in the nation averaging 23.2 points per game. He is shooting 60 percent form the floor, 48.3 percent from 3-point range and 87.5 percent from the charity stripe. He also leads the team in assists (4.7) and blocks (1.5). The No. 8 Argos are shooting 52.8 percent from the floor and are third in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage (44.2). Jacob Wetzel is 2nd in the country shooting 68.8 percent from distance. Jaxson Hashley is averaging 11.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Brandon Cotton is shooting 53. 7 percent from the floor and is averaging 15.3 points per game.
