No. 4 Bulldogs Dominate No. 23 Argos on the Road.

The No. 4 Bulldogs battled through a slow first quarter to blow out No. 23 University of Providence Argos on their home court Friday night. With the win the Bulldogs claim at least a share of the 2018-19 Frontier Conference title. The Bulldogs held the Argos to just three points in the first quarter, to lead 10-3. The offense came to life behind Brianna King's 13 second quarter points to take an 18 point lead at the half. The Bulldogs would keep their foot on the gas in the third  build a 26 point lead midway through the third quarter to coast to the big win. While the offense was clicking the defense made thing difficult for the Argos. The Bulldogs forced 22 Argo turnovers, held them to just 31 percent shooting, and out rebounded UP by seven for the game. 


Individual Leaders
  • Brianna King scored a game-high 28 points. She added five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
  • Britt Cooper recorded 11 points, and eight rebounds. 
  • Kerstyn Pimperton went 6-9 form 3-point range to lead the Argos with 20 points. 

Inside the Box Score

  • The Argos were 13-1 on their home court coming into the game. 
  • The Bulldogs held Parker Esary to just six points and five rebounds. She averages 13.5 points and 10.1 rebounds a game. 
  • Pimperton was the only Argo to score double figures
  • The Bulldog defense held the Argos to just one made field goal in the first quarter.

"I'm really proud of these young women. These seniors finished last four years ago, and to cap their careers with a conference championship is awesome. They defended their butts off tonight and holding Providence to 10 offensive rebounds was really critical."
Notes
  • The Bulldogs claimed at least a share of the Frontier Conference title. Montana Western holds a one game lead in the conference with one game left to play. The Bulldogs hold tie-breakers over everyone in the conference. 
  • For the second straight year the Bulldogs have a winning record against everyone in the conference.
  • Britt Cooper scored her 1000th career point.

The Bulldogs will close out the regular season Saturday night in Havre, Mont. against MSU-Northern. Opening tip is set for 6 p.m.
