HISTORY: The 2019 season marks the 88th year of Bulldog football, recording a 251-352-12 all-time record with 16 conference championships. Budget woes put a hold on football for the 1937 and 1938 seasons. World War II put a halt on football from 1942 to 1946 and the state eliminated football at Western in 1987.

NATIONALLY RANKED: The Bulldogs are ranked 25th in the preseason coaches top-25 poll. The Bulldogs have been ranked or received votes in 41 of the last 52 polls since 2015.Â
LATE HEROICS: A season ago the Bulldogs outscored opponents 121-16 in the fourth quarter. Last week against Carroll the Bulldogs scored the game winning touchdown with 58 seconds left in the game.Â
FIRST SCORE: Redshirt sophomore receiver
Trey Mounts worked his way into the starting lineup and scored his first collegiate touchdown against Carroll on a 46 yard strike. He finished with six catches for 96 yards. He also averaged nine yards per punt return and a 24 yard kickoff return.Â
MID SEASON FORM: Senior linebacker
Jason Ferris is picking up where he left off a season ago. He recorded a career-high 19 tackles and added two pass break-up and a forced fumble against the Saints.Â
