SPOKANE, Wash. -
Brynley Fitzgerald's 26 points were not enough as the Montana Western Bulldogs (2-1) fell to Whitman College (2-0) 87-68 Friday evening in the Quality Inn Whit Classic.
Fitzgerald shot 9-18 from the field and had two rebounds, steals and blocks.
Despite shooting 41 percent from the field and making 10 3-point field goals the Bulldogs lost the rebounding battle (45-22) allowing Whitman 28 second chance points. Whitman shot 47 percent and made 13 shots from beyond the arc as they held a double digit lead for most of the second half.
Jenni Weber and
Melanie Johnson each scored nine points.
Kylie McCracken led Whitman with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
The Bulldogs will face host Whitworth University tomorrow, Nov. 13 at 3:30 p.m. in Spokane.
