SPOKANE, Wash. – The Bulldogs' strong second quarter led them to a 22-point win over the Whitworth Pirates at the second day of the Quality Inn Whit Classic.
The Bulldogs shot better than the Pirates, both from the field (42.9% vs. 33.3%) and from the 3-point line (34.5% vs. 17.4%). The Bulldogs held the Pirates to just 2 points in the second quarter.
Whitworth had one more offensive rebound than Western (10-9), though the Bulldogs held the Pirates to just one second-chance point.
Brynley Fitzgerald led the Bulldogs with 16 points, followed by
Jayden Winslow (13) and
Shainy Mack (12).
Sydney Sheridan and
Jenni Weber both had six rebounds.
Quincy McDeid led the Pirates with 12 points.
The Bulldogs travel to Caldwell, Idaho next weekend where they will face College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon.
