HELENA, Mont. – The Montana Western Men's Basketball team fell to No. 23 ranked Carroll College this evening by a final score of 76-65. The Bulldogs move to 5-6 on the season after tonight's loss.
How it Happened
The Bulldogs went on a 10-4 run to start the game, giving them a six-point lead three minutes in. Carroll took their first lead of the game at 14-12 with 12:39 behind a made three-point shot. The two teams continued to trade points with Carroll hanging onto the lead for much of the half. Bulldog forward
Jok Jok hit a three-pointer that brought the Bulldogs within two points.
Brenton Woods followed with a layup that tied the game up at 33 with just over 30 seconds left in the half. Though tied, the Fighting Saints were able to put two more points on the board to send them into the half up two on the Bulldogs at 35-55.
The Bulldogs shot an overall 42.9 percent from the field in the first half, putting up a total of 28 shots. Though the Bulldogs held Carroll to just 21 shooting attempts, the Fighting Saints shot 61.9 percent in the first half alone.
Jamal Stephenson led the Bulldogs at the end of the first half with 10 points and a rebound.
Tanner Haverfield led the Bulldogs in rebounds with three.
Throughout the second half, the Bulldogs fought neck and neck with Carroll trading leads back and forth. Tied at 50 with 13:07 to go, the two teams would go quiet scoring just two points apiece for the next five minutes of the game.
Michael Haverfield hit a free throw to give the Bulldogs the lead at 59-58 with six and a half minutes to go. Despite taking the lead, the Saints grabbed the momentum and pulled away with the game after outscoring the Bulldogs 18-6 in the final minutes. Though the Bulldogs put up more shots in the second half than the Saints, the Bulldogs shot just 40 percent from the field compared to the Carroll 54.2 percent.

- The two teams traded leads in the game seven times along with six tied scores in the matchup.
- The Bulldogs were able to put up 53 shots in the matchup, eight more shots than that of the Saints. The Bulldogs shot a 41.5 percent from the field and 64.7 percent from the free throw line.
- Jok Jok and Jamal Stephenson each had 16 points in the game. Jok added four assists and a block. Stephenson added two rebounds and three assists.
- Ky Kouba had four steals in the game, along with 10 points.
- Jacob Ankeny had four offensive boards, half of the teams total of eight.
