This Week in Bulldog Athletics: Sept. 4-10

FOOTBALL

Bulldog Football comes off of a week one victory over the Eastern Oregon Mounties. The Bulldogs amassed a total of 433 offensive yards, with Palandri throwing for 329 yards. His career high featured 17 out of 26 pass completions, four touchdowns, and one interception. Defensively, the Bulldogs held the Mounties to just 66 rushing yards on the day.

Montana Western hits the road again for their first conference matchup of the season. They will be taking on the no. 12 ranked College of Idaho in Caldwell next weekend. The Yotes enter the matchup 2-0 after defeating Southern Oregon last weekend by a score of 42-16.

VOLLEYBALL

The Montana Western Volleyball team returns to the court this week after a week off from play. The undefeated Bulldogs will travel to Valley City, N.D. to compete in the Valley City State Tournament. 

The Bulldogs enter the week 6-0 on the season, led by Jazi Smith with 2.71 kills per set. Defensively, the Bulldogs average 2.48 blocks per set and 18.29 digs per set as a team.

They will take on Valley City State (N.D.), Mayville State (N.D.), Dickinson State (N.D.), and the University of Winnipeg (MB) in this week's tournament.

RODEO

The Montana Western Rodeo team will be in Cody, Wyo. this weekend as they are competing at the Trapper Stampede hosted by Northwest College. The two-day rodeo will be the first of three weekend fall rodeos that the Bulldogs will be competing in.

There is a lot of excitement surrounding this season as the Bulldogs return to the arena. The Bulldog Men's Rodeo team finished second in the Big Sky Region last season, with the Women finishing in third.

CROSS COUNTRY

The Bulldogs get the cross country season going this week with the Conference Preview Meet in Great Falls, Mont.

The Bulldogs are under the direction of new head coach Taylor Grove. Grove joined the Bulldogs from Campbellsville, Ky. where she served as the assistant coach for both the men's and women's cross country teams and the track and field teams at Campbellsville University.

In the recent 2023 preseason cross country coach's poll, the Bulldog Men's and Women's cross country teams were each picked to finish fourth overall in the conference.
