BILLINGS, Mont. – The no. 19 ranked Montana Western women's volleyball team (13-6, 4-3) fell in a tough battle with the no. 2 ranked and undefeated University of Jamestown this afternoon by score of 25-23, 25-12, and 25-22.
Jordan Olson led the Bulldogs with 10 kills in the matchup.
How It Happened
After playing tight through the early part of set one, the Bulldogs were the first to take an edge and rode a 4-0 run to a 19-14 lead behind the serving arm of
Kelsey Goddard. A timeout from the Jimmies broke the run and they would answer by going on their own 10-2 run to take the game to 23-21.
Peyton Vogl recorded a kill to bring it back to one, but Jamestown closed the set out on top 25-23.
Jamestown took a massive early lead in the second frame, keeping UMW at their heels through the entire set. Western would hit .000 as a team in the set and total just seven kills on their way to a 25-12 set two loss.
The third frame got off to an exciting start and both teams went on their own 5-0 scoring runs to knot the game at 5-5 early on. The Bulldogs took their first lead of the set behind a kill from
Danyel Martin. Despite the narrow 8-7 lead, the Jimmies answered and reclaimed their hold on the set and would keep the Bulldogs chasing for the remainder of the frame. Vogl and Martin paired for kills to bring it within one at 23-22, but UJ closed the game on a pair of points to win 25-22.
