Bulldog Women Struggle to Contain Fire, Fall to RV Southeastern 79-46

DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Western women's basketball team (1-2) lost in a nonconference matchup to the RV Southeastern University Fire (5-1) this evening by a final score of 79-46.

The Bulldogs struggled from the field, hitting just 29.0 percent and hitting 50 percent from the charity stripe.

How It Happened
The Bulldogs matched the Fire early in the game, trailing just four at the end of the first quarter after picking up a pair of threes from Joelnell Momberg and Isabella Lund.

The Fire quickly caught a spark in the second quarter, running on an 8-0 scoring run across the first minute to take a 24-12 lead. Down 28-14 midway through the second, Payton Hagy drained a pair of threes on back-to-back possessions to close the gap back within eight.

Despite bringing it within striking distance, the Bulldogs were unable to contain the Fire and they would claim a 37-22 lead heading into the break.

The third quarter proved to be much like the last, as the Fire outscored Western 19-12 across the frame and extended their lead to 56-34.

Southeastern posted their best quarter in the fourth, outscoring the Bulldogs 23-12 in the frame to finish out on top 79-46.
